The Florida Project

During a summer in Orlando, Florida, we follow six-year-old Moonee (Brooklyn Prince) and her young rebellious mother Halley (Bria Vinaite). They stay at The Magic Castle, a highway motel on the border of "The Most Magical Place on Earth" – Disney World. Despite the harsh surroundings, the handsome Moonee with his exuberant mood finds it not difficult to make every day an extraordinary experience. Motel keeper Bobby (Willem Dafoe) tries his best to keep control of the naughty kids and hides under the hard facade a heart of gold. The long afternoons are spent on ballads and adventurous expeditions, when Moonee and her gang fearlessly explore the completely unique world they've landed in. Moonee just doesn't know that her idea of ​​reality is based on Halley's hard work and decision to choose a dangerous path in order to provide for her daughter.

The film is directed by Sean Baker, who at the 2025 Oscar show stole all the headlines and broke several records, when he became the lucky recipient of all four personal Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Direction and not least Best Film for the successful indie film Anora, which reportedly only cost around $6 million to make.
